I’ve now been rejected three separate times for insurance on various things due to health concerns. I have coverage for a wide variety of circumstances, but in the event of my death my loved ones will not, at present, receive the type of benefit to which most citizens are entitled.

It’s a motivating factor to improve my health, certainly.

It’s also something that makes me really uneasy for our society. Obviously there are conditions from which I am more likely to suffer sooner than others, but I’m not sure that the risk is so great that I should face a blank wall of rejection on a regular basis. I’m not a risk assessment professional, so perhaps I underestimate the dangers I face. But I do wonder why the obstacles are so very obstacle-ey.
