The things people can do now on limited resources get a showcase in this article. My favourite in here overall is From the Future with Love, but the effects, at least, are spectacular in all of them, and the production quality on Archetype is pretty amazing, and makes the point that even in this context better writing and production shines through.
One can only hope that this lowering of the technological threshold encourages more and better high-quality spectacle movies. I like them, but I would much rather that there be more artistically inclined versions of what we’re getting today.
